The short answer: what becomes visible in thirty minutes differs in kind from what may emerge over up to two nights and three days with a host outside hiring. Hosts do not score anyone or judge company fit.
An interview is designed to be a place where you present your best. That isn't a criticism — if you have thirty minutes to decide, anyone would do the same. But what surfaces in those thirty minutes is the part a person decided to show.
Spend actual hours together and moments arrive that can't be dressed up. Mornings when you're half awake. Getting hungry. What you do with your plate when you're done. Where to set your bag down. A person shows most in the hours nobody thinks to evaluate.
A KIBOU stay runs up to two nights. With only one, both sides are still holding themselves a little straight. It's around the second morning that the place turns into ordinary life. What got said on the second night, and over the third morning — that's usually what stays.

It's easy to assume otherwise, but KIBOU is not a system for grading a stay. What a host writes isn't an assessment — it's what they saw. "The curtains were already open before I got up." That alone carries a person across.
And the one being written about writes too. We made reviews mutual because evaluation running one way puts the impulse to perform right back in the room. If both sides are writing, it's quicker for both to just be themselves.
Even so, three days in a stranger's space is a lot to ask cold. So before visiting, you play that space's quest. What time the household wakes. How meals work. Only someone who knows all that and still wants to come ever applies. The reasons to brace yourself drop away before you meet.
We're not out to tear down the thirty-minute method. It just seems a shame for it to be the only one. We simply want three days sitting there as another option.
